I installed a DVD drive into my computer last night then when I went to boot it up, it gave me an error message "floppy diskette seek failure." It then gave me the option either to continue or go into setup. If I continued, it went on into Windows and everything was fine but the floppy didn't work, of course. I ended up disabling the floppy drive in the BIOS and it boots up fine and everything works except of course the floppy drive. I haven't used it in a really long time so I can't say it was working fine before but I never got the "floppy diskette seek failure" message during the boot up before this. Can anyone tell me if putting the DVD drive in could have caused this or if it was probably already not working right?

I presume you checked ALL the cable and connections AFTER installing the DVD drive because it sounds like you could have moved something when you were installing the DVD. Possibly too you don't have an adequate PowerSupply and adding the DVD drive was the straw that broke that camel's back.

I did check to be sure everything was still plugged in and it seemed to be. I didn't move anything at all. There was a vacant place ready for the DVD drive and I just slipped it in and attached the cables. Maybe it is the power supply. I'll look into that. Thanks for the advice. :)

I have gotten the same error, and it ended up being that I bumped the power connector. If you're sure the connectors are all seated, maybe it could be power? Try detaching the drive you just installed and see what happens.
