Need to look for a home use, UPS for my computer. We've started having problems with our commerical power and I don't want to fry the new computer I've ordered. My goal is to provide a short term supply to the computer to either hold it through a momentary outage, or give me enough time to come down and power the system down.

Any recommendations for a home UPS that would work but isn't out of sight price wise? Thanks - Chet

Welcome to the PC Guide forums!

I use a BackUPS 800 from APC here, it will power my system including the modem, router, tower, and monitor for 42 minutes per their software. APC does have less expensive ones that will do the job. Get a UPS on sale from CompUSA, BestBuy, or NewEgg (online).

Belkin brand is also acceptable per other member's recommendations here.

I have a Belkin big enough (750?) to handle the same components PrntRhd listed, for somewhere near the same amount of time. It also provide line filtering. Works great and has already proven itself a couple of time since I bought it.

thanks for the suggestions. I checked the APC and Belkin websites, then went to NewEgg, and a couple other sites. Ended up ordering an
APC ES 500 from Amazon (same price - no shipping) because my kids gave me an Amazon gift certificate for Christmas.
