password in bios??/help!

computer is about 2 years old and today is the first time I tries to access bios but its asking me for a password. Have no idea what to do . please help.

Power down the pc remove side panel and then remove the BIOS battery for a few mins and then put it back and power pc back up.

Thanks. also heard there were programs that could tell you what your password was.

And why do you need to alter the BIOS ?

Yes this is my pc.Just wanted to format hard drive so i wanted to set boot sequence.thats when i noticed password protected. The place where i bought it probably put that password there so that i would have to go back to them,but they are out of buisness now.
