(Im not sure if this is the correct place to post this problem so feel free to move it)

Hello, I have an old Hp Pavilion Desktop model 6640C and it runs ok. Well after about a year or two of downtime, I recently hooked it back up and it still works fine. The problem is with the ethernet card in it. I'm not sure what model it is, but I know it's not integrated. The problem is the card will just not work at times and I have to wiggle the cord in it or even lean something against the cord for it to function. Could the card itself be going or could it just be loose?

Any help appreciated

Did you try a different cable?

Yes I have tried various cables, they all work but the problem still remains that the card will randomly cease to work until the cable is moved around.

Why not try a new Network Interface Card (NIC) as they are cheap to buy.

Open the case and re-seat the card. Make sure the card is attached to the case with a screw. If it continues, replace it.

The card was loose after all. Thanks for the help!
