I hope I can explain this clearly enough because I'm not very technical.
The main problem I'm having is when I run norton virus scan on my computer, it scans through fine and shows I have 7 threats but when it completes, I get a pop-up saying that norton was unable to scan due to missing files. I reinstalled norton internet security twice and received the same problem. Then I ran hijackthis and noticed that there were files to remove. However, I have 3 files here that I am not sure about. They are:

BHO: (no name) - {BE2DE5AA-92AB-BD7C-FADA-53EEC7171C63} -

C:\DOCUME~1\Jackie\APPLIC~1\SITELI~1\HECK WMA.exe

HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u

Root:HKEY_CURRENT_USER Key:Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Value: heart defy
Data:
New Data: C:\DOCUME~1\Jackie\APPLIC~1\SHOWSH~1\UploadMemoBon e.exe

Before this problem started happening, I ran a virus scan and it detected the last file shown here. But when I tried to find it, I could'nt. I deleted that file when it showed up in hijackthis and ever since then AdWatch has been blocking it from entering my computer every 20 minutes. The other 2 files I have no clue about. Is this a threat? And what can I do about it? I've had to shut down norton internet security firewall because it's suddenly gone crazy. When I do have norton firewall up it prevents me from getting online, and it pops up with alerts every few seconds which drives me insane. I am presently using windows firewall with no problems. Although I know that it's not as secure as norton is. I've been trying to fix this for the past 3 days but no luck. Could you please advice me? :(

Thanks a lot!!

You are using a version of HJT that was scrapped more than a year ago... Please download the 1.99.1 version and post a log from that... Also, please provide details about what you have already done...

I am assuming you have not run any other scans since you did not indicate any... Please run an Ewido scan...

Please download, install, and update the NEW free version of Ewido trojan scanner (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/):

When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.

From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.

After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")

Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.

Check "Perform action with all infections".

When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.

Open an HJT scan and put checks by these if they are still there:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{E5C965F9-49E1-4D5E-B792-A6D06400CE48} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BE2DE5AA-92AB-BD7C-FADA-53EEC7171C63} - C:\DOCUME~1\Jackie\APPLIC~1\SITELI~1\HECK WMA.exe
O16 - DPF: {0D62A517-E7C6-4E1F-A577-07D4AC549A48} - http://advnt01.com/dialer/int_ver32b.CAB
O16 - DPF: {9AE283A5-DF43-4C83-B6AA-7EBDBDB0204A} (VacPro.canada_ver10) - http://advnt01.com/dialer/can_ver10.CAB

These are optional... They are registration reminders and have been reported to report back to the originating company about the computer they are on, so I recommend fixing them...

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

These have almost complete access to your system so I strongly suggest fixing them if you are not certain that they can be trusted....

O15 - Trusted Zone: plus.xdrive.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.xdrive.com

Once you have checked the ones you want to fix, close all open windows except HJT and press Fix checked...

Reboot and post a fresh HJT log, the Ewido log and a report on how things are going...

Hi Budfred,

Thank you very much for helping me. After I made my last post, Norton Antivirus popped up automatically to do a full system scan. Although this was never successful in the past, I decided to let it run through. This scan completed succussfully and brought up 9 threats/no infections. Norton was able to delete 4 of the threats. The ones that were left are:

C:\Windows\Installer\5d813d9.msi
C:\Windows\Installer\5d813d9.msi
C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Data\JOYFACEPROGRAMMESS\boltbat.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Application Data\Sitelive\HECK WMA.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Application Data\SHOWSHIM SETUP\Uploadmemobone.exe

I was able to find all of these files through a search on the computer but was not allowed to delete them because it said that they are in use. However, I was able to delete the HECK WMA.exe in HJT.
Since that scan, I do not have the SHOWSHIM SETUP file trying to access the computer any more, but the Norton Firewall is still acting up.
The files that you mentioned in your last post to me are foreign except the http:\\advnt01.com which are from hit counters that I have on my website. I think that I should leave those ones in place.
I will now go and perform the instructions that you gave to me and report back later. Thank you.

You can use KillBox to delete those files...

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/KillBox.exe

Then copy/paste this list into a Notepad file so that you can access it in Safe Mode... Boot to Safe Mode (tap F8 just before Windows starts loading and select Safe Mode)... Choose the "Delete on reboot" and "End Explorer Shell while Killing file" options... Copy/paste the entire list into the line for the file... It should be able to accept the whole list, but if it doesn't you will need to enter them one at a time... Do not click through to close it out and reboot until they have all been entered... Once they are all entered, click through to kill them...

C:\Windows\Installer\5d813d9.msi
C:\Windows\Installer\5d813d9.msi
C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Data\JOYFACEPROGRAMMESS\boltbat.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Application Data\Sitelive\HECK WMA.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Application Data\SHOWSHIM SETUP\Uploadmemobone.exe

If you are successful in deleting the file, go back and delete the folder for each one... That would be:

C:\Windows\Installer\
C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Data\JOYFACEPROGRAMMESS\
C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Application Data\Sitelive\
C:\Documents and Settings\Jackie\Application Data\SHOWSHIM SETUP\

Most of those appear to be LOP infections... Have you installed Messenger Plus3 at any time??

This is a known dialer, so you may want to consider finding another counter for your website...

http:\\advnt01.com

Whatever you decide to do, please post a fresh HJT log and the Ewido log after a reboot...

Budfred, thanks for all the info. Sorry I haven't replied in so long, but I'm still having problems. I've attempted to post in this forum but my computer freezes when I try to go to the next page, or it will time-out. However, I did what you said, but everytime I do a ewido scan it stalls after 30 minutes or so. I've called a tech person to come this weekend who seems to have some knowledge and I'll see how that goes. In the meantime, thanks a lot for all your help. I really appreciate it!

If you are turning it over to a tech who doesn't have training in malware, it would be a good idea to backup your important documents now... It is likely that the tech will want to reformat and reinstall... That will work, but you will lose whatever is on your hard drive...

I do remember the tech saying that he may have to reinstall, but I never mentioned to him anything about malware. Anyway, I'll give it the weekend and we'll see what happens. It took me 3 attempts to try and post tonight, it's getting a little better than before but I need to get this problem seen to. I'll try to keep you posted when I can, thanks again budfred.
