I have a Asus P4P800 mobo and I had 2 x 256mb sticks of Corsair ValueSelect memory in the blue slots of the dual channel configuration.
For Christmas I got 2 x 512mb sticks of Corsair XMS TwinX and stuck it in with my others to fill out my dual channel slots.
I decided to read my manual and it said that I should keeps my CAS latency the same across all the sticks.
Well unfourtunatly my new ram is CAS 2 i think, while my ValueSelct is CAS 3.
So I can start my computer and it runs fine and does exactly what I wanted it to do, which was to stop using my hard drives swap file in games :(
My problem is that when I boot up my computer it tells me that I have 1.5GB of DDR 333 or some 300 number ram, running in dual channel. Is this because of the Latency.
Or is it because my mobo isn't supposed to take double sided ram and that is what this is.

Thanks
Davey

Yank the old RAM modules, install the new modules in the correct slots, and reset the latency values in CMOS for the new modules.
If that message goes away, then install the old modules in the remaining slots, and reset the latency.
If the message reappears, then suggest that you install identical modules.

Thanks very much for the reply it worked great.
My Asus mobo bios has now option for clearing the CMOS, but I think it does it automaticaly because of the jumperFree thing.

Anyway it worked just fine and wanted to let other ppl know.

Thanks again
Davey

Mixing timings and RAM types usually causes some type of confusion like this. This is why I always set my RAM timings myself in the BIOS. That auto-detect crap isn't standard for every BIOS.

You're welcome.
Glad that you were able to fix things, and thanks for posting back with the solution.
