I was trying to copy a cd and my drawer will not open. There is not any hole in front to put a paper clip in like the top tray it is a Compaq PC.Any help?
If you tried opening it both with the controls on the drive and with Windows software, then make sure all cables are securely connected.
If they're ok, then connect a different power lead to the drive.
If no luck, then install a different known working IDE cable.
If still no good, then see if it works on another system.
If no luck, then the drive is probably bad.

Do you have another system that you could put the drive in?
how do I do the solftware thing? You're welcome.
Right click on the CD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer, and click Open.

If you just have the 4pin power cable attached (and the data cable detached) and there is no LED activity and the door will not open with the button - then I would say the drive is probably dead.
