i just finished building a new pc i put the voodoo 5 5500 in it because i was told by the vendor that it had video out, to my suprise when i got the machine it did not. i am wondering if there is a tv card that i could buy with tv out that would work with the voodoo5 5500.the specs on my machine are: amd 1000MHz, voodoo5 5500, soundblaster live!, dvd, cdrw, 20gb hd ,192mb ram, does anyone have any suggestions.

I belive there is a "TV" Voodoo board (that only does TV IN\OUT) that should work with your Voodoo5. I would go to the 3DFX web site and look around.

Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

The Diamond Viper 2 is a cheap solution at under $80.00 now, not bad for a 32mb card. It does have issues but should work fine for your needs. It has standard video out as well as a SVideo output.

Why not get a scan converter? It's a device that converts VGA to NTSC video (for a television set). It has S-Video and composite outputs. I don't think you would want to get another video card, since you wouldn't be using the Voodoo's 3D chipset (unless it was possible to connect it internally or use a pass-through cable like the first Voodoo cards had), and you would just be adding another device to your system (taking up another IRQ). And once you get it, you don't have to worry about whether or not your future video cards have TV-out capability (until you get an HDTV, anyway :^) ). And yes, you can use your monitor at the same time.
