I recently installed a new mobo(gigabyte)/cpu(AMD 1.6MHZ) and a new hard drive in my PC and decided to wipe the C drive(Old Hard Drive) and totally reload all of my software. I had a bootable Win ME floppy so I put it in and boot it up but I cannot get to the CD-ROM even thought I select boot with cd support. HELP!!!

Try making another ME bootdisk from this site http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm. If the new disk doesn't work report back.

Is the CD-ROM drive jumpered correctly? How are your drives connected? Can you get into the BIOS at all? The first boot of any new system should always be without any drives connected - just get into the BIOS and make sure it works that far first. After that part is successful, you can start adding drives, starting with the floppy drive.

Thanks guys! I will try these tonight at home and report back. I will do as you suggest and disconnect all drives and check the BIOS settings first. I actually had it working with the new equipment installed but it took FOREVER to load any new software so I decided to wipe the C: and start over.

Ok, I got a good boot floppy and I can get the PC to boot and I have formatted the C: drive again and I have tried numerous times to load Windows ME and it gets about 10% into the file load and then the following message comes up.... "Setup cannot copy the installation files to your computer. Click OK to exit Setup. Message SU0325"

Anyone have any ideas?

I am thinking about taking the harddrive out and putting it in a good working PC I have and trying to load Windows ME on it then.

Have a look at this. Error SUO325 When Windows Me Setup Is 10 Percent Complete (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q270593/)

Sounds like the ME CD is bad or the old HDD is bad, but most likely the CD is scratched or dirty. Check the CD for scratches etc.. Download the diagnostic utility from the HDD manufacturer and check the HDD.

Installing an OS on another system will usually cause problems at best. Most of the time it will not boot, or crash shortly after. You need to figure out what is going on and install on your new system.
