I have a problem with the LAN I set up at home: I'm using a Linksys Wireless G router and a computer connected directly to it by a Cat5. I set up a workgroup and the other 2 (laptops) connect to the network wirelessly. The configuration is that all computers connect to the internet through the router and its basically all computers sharing with each other, and all computers are using XP Pro. The problem is, the computer that is connected by wire can access both laptops' shared files, but these two can't access the one that is connected directly (but they can access each others' files).
I've already given permissions in all 3 computers, but it just doesn't let me access the desktop at all, saying I don't have the session permission (which I'm almost certain I gave).
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I looked throughout the forum and found related threads, but not quite the problem I'm having. If it has already been posted elsewhere, please let me know. Thanks.

session permission? That is the error message?
I would look at a firewall blocking it first off. Turn off any firewall on the wired PC. Try and ping the other computer via IP. Make sure that the user you used to log into the laptop is added with same credentials on the wired pc.

I already turned off all firewalls on the wired PC, and I can also ping both IPs on each computer, but it still gives me the same error message: "Session start error: the user has not been granted permission to start a session in this computer."

Do you have ICS turned on? Are you setting up the PC to access the internet through the network?

The PC should be set to connect directly to the internet or through a hub. Run The networking wizzard and set it tp that way and let us know what happens.
Are you trying to start a Remote Desktop Connection by any chance?
I know you will get that error if you try to start a session on a remote PC that you havent given the users permission to. Each user needs to be added to the list of users allowed to initiate a RDC session by going to the Remote tab on computer properties and clicking the Select Users button.

When I try to add another user in the RDC tab, the only location I can add from is the wired PC, so when I try to add the laptop's name, I get an error.
The wired PC has ICS turned off, and all computers are set up to connect through a hub.

Log in as administrator on the PC you would like to grant access to.
Rt Click on My Computer and choose manage.
Then select users & groups
Then select users.
Rt click in the list of users and choose add
Add the user, using a user name and password that is NOT the name as the name of any of the PC's on the network.
Make sure the PC you are attempting to log in with has the same user name and password.

You would add a user not a computer. You connect via RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) with a user. That user has to be able to access the pc or be part of a group that has access to the PC.

When you connect to a PC that is running XP Pro and does not use Simple File Sharing, each computer authenticates based on it's own Local Security Database. This above link shows you how to add a user. Once the user is added you need to enable Remote Desktop connection to the PC.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/enableremote.mspx
So with the above links you have created a user on the PC that can access the computer and you have enabled Remote Desktop on the PC you are trying to connect to. If you still have problems try connecting with Remote Desktop to the PC's IP address instead of the name. If that works then yours issue is with host name to IP address resolution. Right click My Network Places, Right Click LAN, Click TCP/IP ... and then Properties, click Advanced and then click WINS. Make sure you do not have Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP checked. Since you don't mention any server or a router your computers will use NetBIOS broadcasts to resolve names to IP Addresses. If something is blocking NetBIOS you will not be able to connect via the name but you will be able to via the IP.
