I finally got everything together, and when I try to install windows (XP home w/sp2), it either gives me an error (pertaining to data corruption), or says windows did not detect any hard drives. I have 2 WD740 raptors, which I have sucessfuly set up a Raid 0 stripe (in the ctrl I screen), and created a floppy with drivers. I'm stuck! Any help/diagnostic steps would be greatly appreciated!! I also have an 80gb Seagate Barracuda ide drive installed. In the hard drives part of the bios, it indicates 1st Intel Volume0, and 2nd ST380011A, if that helps.
System:
Asus P5LD2
2 X wd740
1 X Seagate Barracuda
P4 640
2GB Corsair VS pc4200
Gforce 6800gs

If you don't want Windows installed on that Seagate hard drive, remove it. I always find it easier to install Windows on a new system if the hard drive (or array) that you want Windows installed on is the only one connected to the system.
Did you set the RAID array up on that particular mobo? And what floppy disk with drivers are you talking about? Is that part of the mobo's instruction for creating a RAID array?

I will try again with the Seagate removed. Thanks
Yes, I set up the raid array on this particular motherboard. First, in the bios, I went to IDE Configurations>Configure SATA As>set option to RAID then set on-board serial ATA bootrom to Enabled. Then, I hit Ctrl I during post, and configured the raid 0 array there. Then, while booting from the XP Home CD, I hit F6, and installed 3rd party raid drivers from a floppy I made from the Motherboard CD. Thats about as far as I get, at this point.

OK, with the Seagate removed, I ran Western Digitals diagnostics (full test, and write zeros to drive) on both drives, and each drive was recognized and passed all the tests, so I know the drives are good.
Then, I entered the bios, and the two seperate drives are recognized by the bios, so that looks good.
Then I hit ctrl I and enter the raid setup. I create a Raid 0 volume, and in that screen both drives are recognized, and shows that the Raid 0 array is ok.
Then I tried to install XP Home, I hit F6 to install third party raid drivers, as instructed in the motherboard manual (installing the newst drivers off Asus's website) .
Before I can install Windows, it says something like Windows did not detect any hard drive. Setup cannot continue. Hit F3 to restart.
I have also tried this without 3rd party Raid drivers, with the same results. :(
Any suggestions?

Right before you install Windows, can you see the RAID array recognized in the BIOS? Just as a test, will Windows detect the Seagate hard drive alone?

Problem solved.
I was installing windows xp home OEM that came with my kids Dell computer. It installed without any problems on my old P3, but would not recognize the drives at the install stage, even though everything was visible in the bios. Thanks for all your help!! :)
Holy crap, it took 13 seconds to format a 140gb hard drive!! (2x 74gb Raptors in Raid 0)
