Hi All

I recently purchased a creative ZEN 20GB MP3 player. I can allocate upto 16GB for Data storage, but the problem is when ever i connect it to my computer the drive gets detected but the time taken to access any file takes too long. I am not sure if i am using a usb1.1 or 2.0 usb port. How can i find this out, secondly can i get to buy a usb 2.0 port+ a IEEE 1394 port on a single PCI Card . Pls suggest

Thanks
Ranjit

There are cards available that support both USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394. Take a look at this link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=&PropertyCodeValue=1871%3A12433&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=73&Submit=Property) for some examples. You can figure out if you're using USB 1.1 or 2.0 by timing a transfer. The numbers won't be exact, but you can eliminate one or the other. USB 1.1 is about 1.5 mb/s while USB 2.0 is about 60 mb/s

When I open the USB controllers section of DM, it specifically states that I have a USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller. It's difficult for me to say, but I suspect your machine should do the same. It's pretty easy to determine on my machine by simply measuring the transfer time. In your case, I guess you'll need to consult your hardware manufacturer's manual or website.
