hard drive confusion

I've run into this problem with cd roms before but never a hard drive. What would make two hard drives that work fine separately, atapi incompatable when you hook them together?

are they jumpered correctly and on a cable select enabled IDE cable?

Yep, I made sure of all that before I put the second one in. :)

try to make the other hard disk,,, the secondary primary and make your cd rom the secondary slave

Well, it was a good idea, but no cigar. It still reads atapi incompatible. This one might be more trouble than it's worth. Then again.....
