I'm a semi-technical, very frustrated, almost-senior trying to run EA Sports F1 2000 on a Dell Dimension 8400 (Win XP).
It runs fine on my older HP Vectra (2001 Pentium 1.7 processor, etc.), but on the up-to-date more powerful Dell (P4 3.0), I receive the 'Windows has encountered a problem with F1 2000 and must close' (paraphrased!).
I've tried all the video driver options during installation, and also asked WinXP to set up a Win 98 environment - no luck.
The problem occurs immediately after selecting the car and track and when launching either 'Test Day' or 'Quick Race' 'haven't tried 'Championship' yet.
Any ideas ....... thanks

I fixed the problem after a call to Dell - defragmented the drive, downloaded new BIOS and it seems that Dell had not loaded the newest graphics driver when building the machine (!), so I updated it.

Good news is that one of these three sorted the problem.

Back to more wasted hours in front of the screen ........
