hi
my computer makes an awfull, loud noise and turns itself of as soon as it does anything difficult.the operating system totally crashes and goes into power save mode.apparently this noise is the heat alarm, but the computer never gets hot?

also i heard that it could be a dodgy mother board, its a nvidia rz series 7nf-r2 with pentium 4 processor and a x force graphics card and i first did it rendering with maya[it now happens all the time] could this have burnt it out?

all help appreciated cheers :D

Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

If you're getting a loud continuous beep or music being played through your case speaker it would certainly appear that you are overheating. You may need to do some housecleaning and remove dust from the innards, especially the heatsink and fan assembly...

Do you have some sort of temp monitoring??

The computer itself doesn't get hot, but the processor die can get so hot you could fry eggs on it. You would not be able to feel the heat transfer to the case itself...if that is what you are referring to with you question regarding the computer itself getting hot?

Before you go out and bet a new MOBO, let us try to fix the one you have.

Was this from the BIOS? What kind of temps? I agree with hockey, it might be a good idea to see what's wrong with this one first... ;)

Are you still getting a loud noise? Check all fans. If your noise has gone away your fan may have stopped. Make sure that you check the fan on your Processor.
