I recently gave my parents my old PC because i had built a new one.The OS the had on their previous system was windows 98,and she had an old game she played called Kings Quest.B4 i gave them my old PC i formatted it with Windows XP pro. They love the new OS but she cant get the Kings Quest game to load.I know it has something to do with the compatibility of the game and XP,but not sure what to do about it?The game comes with an error when trin to load about graphics card not compatible. The game runs on a 640/480 reso(I think), but the card only goes down to 800/600.I attempted to try the program compatibility wizard but to no avail,if i did it right?ran it off disk then changed settings, and came w same error.Any suggestions to what i could do to remedy this issue would be greatly appreciated.

You know, I don't think I've ever used the Program Compatibility Wizard. What's it like? :p

For compatibility, I usually just right-click on the shortcut to the program, click on Properties from the drop-down menu, and then click on the Compatibility tab. That has all sorts of options, like running the app in 640 x 480 mode, 256 colors, etc. I've never tried KQ5 with that, but it's worked on other DOS games on my system in the past.

What hardware is in their new PC (your old one)?

The pc has an older ati radeon 9000 series card and the reso on the card is 800/600 minimum.Until yesterday i had never used the program compatibility wizard either :),but was willing to try anything at that point.Pretty much same thing u can do through properties except it immediately set the reso 256 colors etc and lets u keep settings or discard.Proplem is though that u load the cd in the drive ,it come up "u are about to install kq5,do u want to continue?"and i check yes and it immediately comes up w the error about graphics card etc, cant remember exactly what it said but something to that effect.Game not supported by graphics hardware, incompatibility.Anymore suggestions? Thanks

It won't even install!? Wow, that's never happened to me before. How are the drivers in that thing? What chipset does it use?
