HijackThis is not an active antivirus. A HijackThis log is used by pros to find problems. It can fix some of them, however more complexe messes can require downloading specific programs to fix. You need to have an active program antivirus like AVG or AVAST plus a firewall like ZoneAlarm. Alos use Ad-aware and Spybot.

If you downloaded Hijackthis from a reputable site, it would have no relation to your being infected with anything. If you were however on-line without an adequate level of protection including up to date anti-virus, firewall software and minimal spyware protection, it's a wonder your PC runs at all....

I don't think you understand the question, I downloaded it from this forum and when i tried to run it my virus software stopped me and told me it had a worm in it to be more specific the ws2/generic worm. So that is my question why did this happen since I got it from a repituble site and I do have all the required protection running on my machine, hell anymore I even wear rubber gloves and a condom when I am online.

LOL! :D

Could you tell us what specific link here in the forums you got it from? There are many links to HJT around here. If there is one that is bad I'm sure the mods would like to check it out and disable it. HJT is not a worm. It is however possible that your AV gave a false positive. What AV are you using?

well first let me say that I am not screaming that it has a worm on it, thats just what McAfee told me. So saying that I got it from a link on one of Budfreds posts. Now I had downloaded it from elswhere once before and was told it was bad so I asumed a link on this forum would be ok but still was told it was bad and it got quarintined before I could do anything. So I am at a loss here I feel sure that the link was fine but for some reason my PC just doesnt like HJT Jm

Your McAfee badly needs to be updated... That glitch was fixed a long time ago... It is a McAfee problem, not an HJT problem...
