I'm using XP home edition.

Just few days I got a stupid problem in my "Network Neighbourhood" icon on desktop.
- When I click on it, it doesn't open & system hanged.
- And also it doesn't open from "My Netwok Place" from explorar.
- And I don't see the "Network Neighbourhood" link when I run Nero.

I searched in internet but couldn't found any solution. How shall I solve it? Dose anyone know about it!

By "Network Neighbourhood" do you mean "My Network Places". If so do you have any networking setup on your computer and did the icon ever allow you access?

Ya, I've connected with 2 other pc within my network, but I'm not able to reach them through "My network place". But I can go through map networking.

But my question is why my PC get hanged when I click on "Network Neighbourhood" / "My network place" icon..???

That usually indicates a problem with the NIC, not functioing, not getting an IP address, not having a cable plugged in etc.....

It also can indicate a computer that is expecting a certain destination to be available through the LAN, that is no longer connected. A workstation taken off a network, that is still looking for a domain controller or something similar, comes to mind. You may consider tinkering with the Computer Browser, or Distributed Link Tracking Client services.

If you're able to connect to these machines in one manner, but not the other, I am pretty sure you don't have problems with a bad NIC, cable, or no IP address. You'd have no network connectivity at all with those circumstances.

I really don't understand what u r talking abt. I'm connected very well with other 2 pcs', and they r too. The thing is..I'm reapting again ....

When I click to "My Network Place" icon, it hanged ...BUT... I can connect other 2 PCs' through "Map Network Drive" & I can easily browse those PCs.

When you click on the My Network Places icon the computer tries to find the Browse Master on the network. It also attempts to connect to shares using a username in password EXCEPT you are using XP Home which doesn't do this, It uses the Guest account. Are the other PC's XP Pro?

It could be it is hanging there or it could be the problem is that your PC is not set up correctly to allow the use of My Network Places.

Right click My Computer, click Manage, at the bottom expand the tree so that you can see Services - look at the services in the right hand window all these should be running

File and printer sharing
Client for Microsoft Networks
Internet Protocol TCP/IP

Right click the Client for MS Networks and stop it, now restart it. Do you see any pop ups by a software program? If this doesn't fix the issue.
