I have a Sonata II case with ASUS P5LD2 motherboard, there seems to be a problem with the front jacks.
The detections doesn't work, so when I plug in the microphone, it's not recogized.
And sometimes when I test recording/vioce chat on MSN, the sound level meter moves even though I dont have a microphone plugged in, and the record/voice chat is recorded from my music playing in winamp.

This is a silly question, but it needs to be asked. Did you check to make sure that the front connectors are actually attached to the audio header on your mobo? It's easy to forget this, and then only the connections in back will be functional.
If your machine is recording from Winamp, your input source is set either to "Record Master," "Wave," or some other audio device other then microphone. You can modify what gets recorded by doing the following:
Double click the speaker icon in your system tray. Select "Properties" from the "Options" menu. This will open a window like I attached below. Select the radio button marked "Recording" under the section "Adjust volume for"

The volume control that comes up next, is for adjusting the input levels of all your available audio sources. Make sure to place a check by the device you want to use, and adjust the volume somewhere between medium and high. Too low and you won't hear the input source. Too high and you'll overload the inputs, causing distortion and clipping on your capture. You just have to experiment with this to find the best settings for your equipment.

Thanks, in that window you showed me, I muted "Stero Mix" and now it only records from the microphone.
But I still have this problem with the front microphone and speaker jack in my Sonata Case II, detection doesn't seem to be working when I plug in my mic/speaker.

You never mentioned whether you've verified that the front connections are properly attached to the motherboard's audio header. There are something like 15 tiny connectors, and it's pretty easy to get one wrong. You might want to double check the pins against your manual.

I checked them and they are connected right.

I downloaded a copy of the manual for your mobo from here (http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5LD2/e2175_p5ld2.pdf). It supports both HD Audio and legacy AC97 audio. You need to select the version that matches your front connector type within the bios. HD Audio is the default option, but your case may not support it. I'll see what turns up for a search of that.

I found an option called "Disable front jack detection" in the HD audio driver, and now it can work when I plug in my microphone.
But it still cant detect like the jacks at the back do, and when I plug in my headphone at the front, the rear speaker is still on, when it's suppose to shut off.

I think that would be in the audio card configuration software. Maybe go to control panel and select "Sounds and Audio Devices"

Nothing I could do there, I think there is some detection problem with the front jacks on the case, since the jacks at the back respond when something is plugged in.

Page 5-15 of the manual that I linked to shows the Audio I/O configuration section for your driver software. It appears that you can configure the front/back microphone input, as well as a lot of other options. Even though nothing pops up on the screen when you plug into the front jack, have you tried going into that utility?

yeah that's the place where i disable detection of the front panel, and then the input/ouput of the front jacks worked, but I think there is some connection problem to make the motherboard not able to detect the jacks
