This message comes up on a blue screen when i try to shut down the pc. It started happening a few months ago, but it is starting to get to me now, as sometimes the pc will freeze on booting up, and other times it starts ok.

It says it is caused by ctxs51.sys( which is to do with my modem)

Tried the microsoft web site but could find nothing

I'm running Xp

Any help would be appreciated

When i switched on the pc to find the information, it froze while windows was trying to load. I started it in safe mode and disabled the modem. Now the pc starts and shuts down properly, but when i tried to reable the modem the pc froze again. The modem driver is provided by creatix polymedia GmbH, 2/6/03 and is version 4.60.2.0

Would resetting the configuration data in the cmos help? Or would i lose data if i do this?

See if ununstalling and reinstalling the modem driver helps.
If not, then try a different driver.
