Having a problem with a Windows XP SP2 machine. Recently noticed that connection icons are no longer showing up on the system tray. Have not changed the settings in connection options. The box to "Show icon in Notification area" is still checked for both dialup and lan connections but no icons showing up.
Not sure if this is related but occurred about the same time: No 'Toolbars' option showing up when right-click on taskbar.
Update your AV program, and check for viruses.

Already ran fully updated AVG with no viruses found. Also ran updated Adaware.

Try the following.
Go to control Panel and select NETWORK CONNECTIONS.
Next select your connection.
Now RIGHT click it and go to PROPERTIES and check to see if SHOW ICON IF CONNECTED is selected.

I have also restored the system from several different restore points...up to two weeks ago (when I know this problem wasn't occurring) but system restore does not resolve the problem.
Try these:

If no luck, then see if doing a repair install helps.
