HI.

I have recently upgraded drivers for my 3d card and ut2004 game.

Before the game ran "Within Acceptable Limits" but with these new drivers will I notice better improvement? My card is a XFX fx5200 But I only play this one game with everything on normal detail and 640x480 32bit colour. Also my mouse keeps freezing and then it stops during this one game. My last driver was from 2003 so I am thinking if I update the driver the problem might go away. Also would the FX5500 PCI make a marked improvement than a FX5200 PCI on this game? I only have PCI slots and its only a hobby.

The new drivers might improve the performance or perhaps the image quality, but new drivers are often released for stability issues and for new vid cards more than anything else. So while you might see an improvement, it won't be significant.

The FX 5500 is marginally better than the FX 5200. Yes you'd get better performance. Is it worth the extra money? At this point, for a PCI vid card... NO. Not unless you can justify upgrading, like if you have another computer with just PCI slots that needs upgrading from onboard video, or if someone else is willing to buy your current FX 5200. Otherwise moving from a 5200 to a 5500 isn't going to be worth the money.
