I am using Snes9x as a Super NES emulator right now. I have downloaded some of my old favorites (Barts Nightmare and Super Starwars: The Empire Strikes Back). These are working well on my keyboard buy I want to use my Gravis pad (I just have the controler, no disk, no manuel) for a controler. Any tips on getting it to work?
I have gone to the "Game controler" icon in the control pannel and added a four button game pad (as this appears to be) and physicaly conected the Gravis pad to my computers sound card but that didn't seem to do anything. I havn't used this Gravis pad for several years, so it might just be kaput.

I have tried searing the Gravis site, and I have tried Googling the serial number on the controler.

To the moderator that reads this - I am sorry for putting this tread here. I am not sure were else it should go but I put it here before I decied that I needed to ask a different question and edited it to this one.. Please move this thread if you see fit.

Oh, so it's not USB? It uses the gamepad port? Sorry to say, but you will need the drivers for that Gravis gamepad. This whole idea of plugging something in and having Windows auto-detect it is a fairly new concept. Only since the release of WinXP and Win2K (to a certain extent) and USB 1.1 has this even been remotely possible. With the older ports, like the gamepad port and serial & parallel ports, you still need to load the driver. These old ports have no way to "notify" Windows that is a device is present, much less what type of device is present. Not like USB.

I used to have a Gravis game pad that I was constantly fighting with too. I went to the local "Super Duper Big Buy" and got a USB Ryko gamepad with 2 analog joysticks, 11 programmable buttons, and a joypad for around $15. It's a welcome upgrade by itself, but the PnP aspect is awesome.

Yeah, maybe it is time for a new one. The Gravis pad is old. I went to the Gravis site, I don't even know how to identify this one. There is no model# and it can't find the seriel#.

I just went crate diving but wasn't able to find the driver disk for my Gravis PC Gamepad. It dawned on me that this floppy drive hasn't seen a disk in 4 or 5 years, and apparently it decided to retire on me during that time.

I did find my Windows 95A install though. Spanning a majestic 13 floppy disks, and 6 disks for the CD-ROM extras. Ahhh, good times. :)
