Hey all,

I'm in the process of making a budget computer for my grandparents (they finally decided that computers are NOT tools of the devil...) and I was wondering if Connect3D vid cards are "bad" because of the lower price. I've heard rumors that they are cheaper because they use substandard parts, has anyone had any experiance with a Connect3D card?

THanks!

Connect3D has quite the history in the vid card market. They're one of the really old survivors of the graphics adapter wars back in the days of Guillemot and Number Nine. For a few weeks now I've been a particular fan of Connect3D's Radeon X550 PCIe vid cards because they use a passive cooler and have a dirt-cheap price.

That (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814142056) is always my starting point for PCIe graphics cards. Great price, it's a little more than the 6200TC and x300SEs, but both those are both really cheap cards.
