We have windows xp. A week ago we uninstalled our printer and installed a new one. We've gotten the blue page of death with the kernel-date-inpage error (0x0000007A) a few times since then.

I uninstalled the new printer and reinstalled it. I removed all the cables from the harddrive except the necessaries (keyboard, mouse, speakers). I tried to run scandisk, defrag, and virus check, but everytime I run them they only get so far then the computer stops and starts beeping (1 long beep that repeats every 30 seconds) until I quit the application.

What's going on?

The system may be overheating. If the CPU or the system temperatures are above 60C and 40 C, respectively, then make sure all fans are running(incl. the power supply fans), and clean any dust off the heatsinks and fans.

If no luck, then remove the computer's cover, and run an external fan. If that works, then the system needs either additional or more powerful case fans.

If the temps are ok, then reseat the RAM. If no luck, then check the RAM with Memtest86(Note: run the test with just one module installed at a time if there are multiple RAM modules.)
