Slow Internet Explorer Startup

When I click on the ie icon after bootup there is a 45 second lag before it goes to my home page.I also use Firefox which loads the home page quickly. I still would like to use Internet Explorer for some things but the slow startup is annoying. The problem seemed to occur after setting up a home network. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Have you tried checking the LAN settings in the IE options and I assume you are using the home network to access the internet, in which case do you the local default gateway setup correctly (othersiwe IE will do a auto detect for the settings and could be causing the delay)

In the LAN settings nothing was checked so I tried checking each option 1 at a time but it didnt seem to change anything. In Firefox the direct connection to the internet is checked. This seems to work fine. I dont see this option in IE.
