My wife purchased a GTA SA pc for me at xmas but it ended up being a russian bootleg. I loaded it as a dvd into my pc. But my pc did not interact with it as a dvd.
Could this possibly due to it being a imported bootleg and/or how do you load it as a pc dvd game? I will purchase the proper (U.S.) version, but how will it load?

One question, does your PC have a DVD ROM drive? If not then you will need to get a CD ROM for you PC. This game, as far as I know, is only available in a DVD format.
If you have a DVD rom then It will work just as a CD would

but it ended up being a russian bootleg.Oh man! That sucks!! :( Hopefully she learned her lesson on this, but if you ever want her to buy you another game in the future, you better teach her where to buy. And also, I applaud her for her efforts.
Bootlegs sometimes require certain software in order to run properly. Certain... illegal software... We don't condone such activities here on the forums, so unfortunately it would be against house rules to help you with that. While a Google search would point you in the right direction, my personal advice is to dump the bootleg copy and forget about it. Any good game deserves to be supported by buying it. Plus you get the pretty box and manual! :D
