i have an Acer Notebook which has an Ethernet Port for LAN connections.

my problem is that i have 2 LAN connections... one at home and one at the office. Now both have different IP and DNS settings...everytime i connect my home LAN i have to specify the IP address and everytime i go to the office and connect i have to repeat the same thing.

i was wondering if there is any way to creating two LAN connections in my network so that it would auto detect my home LAN as well as my Office LAN or anyother software that would help me auto detect the setting required for the 2 different LAN connections.

OR any other way it is possible.... i know i really sux at networking.. thank u for the help.

If you go into your network properties
Then click on ( TCP/IP) Properties

Then click on Properties Button
You have two tabs General and Alternate Configuration
You can set both to Automatically obtan IP and DNS

This will work IF your router or routers are set to auto as well
other wise you may have to use the manual settings on both

If you have Windows XP, you can create an additional Local area connection and have one with the settings for home and one with the settings for work.
