Im not sure if this is in the right forum but my question is about downloading.. Everytime i dl something over 30MB it goes corrupt, whether it be a zip or exe install, i was wondering what causes it, i reformatted my computer and it is still happening, i download off of fileplanet.com and i dont think ALL of their files are corrupt, i have been getting pretty fast downloading speed, around 600kb/s and maby its downloading too fast and missing some files, and i read somewhere that it can be your hard drive, but i can install other programs and they work fine, so i dont know, iv looked everywhere on other forums, some people have the same question but no one gives a straight answer. Thanx

Which operating system and what do you use to download and what do you use to unzip. Also does this happen with other download sites or is it only at fileplanet.com.

Large downloads are statistically more likely to be corrupted and the Sun Downloader (http://www.sun.com/download/sdm/download.xml) was designed with big files in mind should you want to try it out.

The chernobyl virus (http://www.winzip.com/xcih.htm) used to be able to infect programs like winzip so an antivirus scan might be worth a try.

I had the same problem. Every large download corrupt! Most small ones OK. Maybe you had a bad NIC. However, I fixed my problem another way. I started using the Sun Download Manager and I turned off power management in my BIOS. Since then I have downloaded about 10 CD iso images (about 650 MB each) and dozens of other files --- all perfect! I'm not sure which change did the fix.

Thanks for posting back when you found the NIC was the problem, it makes sense.
