Hey all!

A friend of mine just offered me one HELL of a deal if I build a computer for him. He got a quote online for a spec'd out computer for nearly $4,000! This is absurd. I could build it for right around $2,000 plus a monitor. But I need some direction to an online supplier that will stock the majority of the stuff for the system. I found a bunch of prices on Pricewatch. however, the suppliers were all over the place and shipping/taxes would take a good chunk of money. I'd rather get most of it from one place that happens to be OUSIDE of California. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Respectfully, Cory

Whoever you choose to buy from always take a look at their seriousness concerning quality, shipping and mostly return policy! look in http://www.resellerratings.com/a.html

Try this site they have vendors all over but you buy it all from them.
I use them quite often for computer parts. www.buy.com (http://www.buy.com)

Best of luck on the machine!

About buy.com: I love 'em, done thousands of dollars of business with them. Unfortunately for CLTEK, they are based in California.

I've only dealt with Krex.com once, but they have good CPU prices and are based in Illinois. I haven't dealt with Axiontech.com in Texas; they appear to stock absolutely everything you'd need for a system (not the very lowest prices, but they have a "no profit on shipping" policy, and apparently a good reputation).

My old favorite CSO (http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com) and All Star Shop (http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/shop.asp) might also be worth checking out.

In the "bargain basement" category, I like Computer Geeks (http://www.compgeeks.com/aboutus.asp). They're based in Oceanside, but with prices like $12.95 for a new Iwill Ultra66 RAID controller and "no profit" shipping, you can afford to pay the state sales tax. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

Thanks folk, for the references. Resellerratings.com is fantastic! One of the quote that my friend got actually came from a company which has receivied HORRIBLE reviews. Thanks especially for that reference. Might of just saved a TON of headache for all parties concerned.

I'm still looking around too.

BTW... Kenja... My borther-in-law refered me to compgeeks.com. That's a place where *I* would do my shopping. Hah! But the friend I'm workin' on the new system for has rather deep pockets. He's not worried about saving money. Just getting a kickbutt system that he won't have to upgrade in the near future for a reasonable price.

Talk atcha kids later. Thanks again. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

About the ResellerRatings.com link: excellent, thanks andreadebiase! Looks like Axion has been having problems lately. In my (single) experience with Bzboyz, they have fully earned their 1.8 rating. (Business practices truly worthy of public ridicule.)
