pump pumping cold water or pumping water to get cooled?

so im building another computer and this time its going to be water cooled. i need to know if i should make my pump pump cold water thats already been through the radiator or should i pump it into a radiator then to my CPU. so i came across of how i should route my setup. i was thinking:

res>rad>pump>cpu>RAM>HDD>res again

or inbetween the cpu and RAM, have a y splitter going like:

....../HDD\
CPU.........res
.....\ RAM/

im sort of confused but just remember, a radiator needs some heat in order to radiate... so pump the warmest water through the radiator.

so that would be reservoir>pump>CPU block>radiator>reservoir
