There's a little registry hack available that allows you to turn workstation versions of windows into server versions and vice-versa, details here:

Just FYI gentlemen; unless you're running a large heavily used network-having server edition give's no addtional benefit over the standard 2k prof or XP proffesional editions.

That's true...I think the purpose of the program was to disprove M$'s statement that the reason the server versions were so expensive is beacuse of the additional work and code that went into them...
However, if you do happen to want/need a server version of windows, this is certainly an easy and inexpensive way to do it...for XP Pro to .net server conversions, the process is not complete. It works, but not perfectly (probably because .net was not completed when XP Pro was released) but for NT and 2000, it supposedly works perfectly...

NTswitch can still be found at some of the sites listed here:

Just FYI....Many of my old MCSE teachers use to show us how to change workstations into servers just for the fun of it. It's old news really... about the only thing you gain is access to more concurrent logins.
It's the "login count" or "CAL" (Client Access License) where MS makes it money, not on the difference between workstation and server. I belive a workstation turned server doesn't keep track of the cals and thats the rub for MS.
