So... I'm lookin' at this A7V113 MoBo for this system, right? I'm pretty 'hip' with everything on it. Chipsets, I/Os, BIOS 1002, DIMM, AMR, PCI, USB, DMA, RAID, blah, blah blah, right?

But then I see this AC'97 Audio option. What the heck is that? Onboard soundcard? I see there are drivers to enable it. What is it?

Respectfully, Cory

If it looks like a sound chip, has drivers for a sound chip......then by golly........IT MUST BE A SOUND CHIP http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Hopefully there is a jumper to disable it if you want to or a BIOS setting that disables it so you can put a higher quality card in.

I looked at the Asus site at the board and all it says is that the sound and raid support are "optional".....perhaps a module you can buy...dunno.

I have that mobo...yeah!
It is on-board sound. I ran into probs installing the SB Live when I forgot to disable it in the BIOS. You must disable it with the jumper on the board and in the bios. If you have the manual check out pages 19 and 67 for instructions on how to disable the on-board sound. If you don't have the manual let me know and I'll transcribe pertinent info here. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
