I have 3 computers here at home running Windows 98SE.
I have come upon Windows2000 Professional.
Would there be any advantage to change them over to Windows 2000 Professional?????
Thanks for your thoughts!!!!!!!

I wouldn't think so. W2000 Pro is oriented more toward large scale business networking applications than home users. If you're planning to or already have these computers networked, NT might be a better choice. From what I've heard about both versions of W2000 wait until they work out most of the bugs and issue a few service packs. If you're not networked and don't plan ot it, 98 SE is probably the best bet. W2000 also takes a heftier system to run, if you don't have at least 128MB RAM don't bother...

In addition to Pete's post.......Win98 SE is EASY to network pier to pier in the house.........all the software is built in.......just add NIC's & cable & and you are off & running.

I'll go against the grain...I've been using W2000 for several months now and I love it...I went dual boot with 98 so I could use some older hardware that didn't work as well under 2000 (it did work though)

As long as you have compatible hardware and a machine that can handle it (my personal recommendation is a 400mhz proc. and 128 mb of ram) 2000 is a huge improvement over 98 in stability...ROCK solid...

Service pack 1 is already out and I haven't had any real problems with compatibility with software...it's a little tricky networking 98 systems with 2000 systems in my experience, but I am a huge fan of 2000...

The most important thing is to check the compatibility of your system...

If you do decide to go with win2000, that's about the best suggestion anyone could offer...I agree completely.
