sorry folks, didnt know where to post this and this was the closest subject available. I hope everyone will understand the my desperation.
I recently bought a PC and I got screwed. The system kept shutting down and now I can't even load or install windows anymore. I tried returning it but the vendor is a #@8&-head. Even though he has a return policy he's refusing to exchange it.
Is there anywhere I can to get something done about this guy? I mean other than a professional hitman. I've tried the better business bureau but they dont have any real power.
thanx

You have a right to "Picket" his business ....if you have the time...I bet that would get his attention and possibly he would be more willing to work with you ....esp if he lost some business over it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hello,
Another organization that might be able to help you is the Consumer and Corporate Affairs Department of the Ontario Goverment, they do have the power. You can find their number in the blue pages of your phone book. Do you have a copy of his return policy, this will certainly help. If all else fails do what Randy says, it will catch his attention. Just remember to stay off the private property.

It will cost $ but you may have luck getting him to cooperate if you have a lawyer contact him on your behalf...I don't agree with litigation as a means of solving every trivial disagreement, but if he has an established exchange/return policy you are entitled to at least that...if he violates that policy, he may be liable for additional damages beyond the cost of the computer...
Just a thought...although burly guys with baseball bats tend to have excellent conflict resolution skills...

thanx for the help and understanding everyone.
I hope it wont get to the point where I might need legal counseling but I will definetely contact the Consumer and Corporate Affairs Department of the Ontario Goverment. Also I do like the picketing idea, perhaps I should get started constructing my anti "Computers 2000 (the name of the store)" sign.
I have a invoice but no return policy agreement. All I received was the invoice, and all it states is "No refunds, exchanges only." I was thinking of contacting that Silverman guy from CityTV too.

The TV guy sounds like a good idea. That works real well around here.

Ooops, forgot about that one (Silverman). If Silverman can't help you try
Goldhawk at CTV.

At least down here in the States most places of business have enough sense to know, that if you get someone irrate enough to bring in the TV guy, to call it quits. Let's hope your's does too. If the invoice says "No refunds, exchanges only" then he should at least be willing to check out the suspect machine, (clean it up, do a fresh install and pass it off to some other poor unfortunate soul?????? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ) before telling you to get lost. Also make it known to him that you are telling all your friends and family members how disappointed you are with his service........
