http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif My wonderful husband purchased a PC for me for Valentine's Day. I do not want to look a gift horse in the mouth but I would like some input. He purchased it from an ad on TV. It is over 3 wks. late and is not all here yet but what did arrive came with a System Summary list.

Description: Reliant Athlon 1GHZ
AMD Athlon Processor 1 GHz with Perf. Enh. Cache
128MB PC133 Non ECC SDRAM
MATX Style Skt A AMD Athlon MB w/ Audio
30GB IDE ATA 66 5400 RPM Hard Drive
16 MB nVida AGP Graphics card with TV-Out functionality
S/I 56K CNR Softmodem
Keyboardmall Internet Enhanced Keyboard
Windows Millennium Recovery Kit with Manual, CD and COA
Mid Tower ATX Chassis with 1.44 MB Floppy Drive and 250W Power Supply

That's all that has arrived so far. Apparently we are still expecting the Monitor, printer, & Scanner. It was from TigerDirect and I have been unable to access their website.

Any input anyone can provide is appreciated.

Congrats! You've gotten a pretty nice system. Very fast CPU, reasonable amount of RAM, plenty of disk space and pretty decent video. Haven't heard of that motherboard, but it'll probably be fine. Integrated audio isn't usually the best, depending on what you want it to do. A little light on the power supply, but enough if you don't plan on adding much else inside. The only problem I see -- personal prejudice -- is the recovery disk. The way those usually work is that you can only do a complete restore, and can't selectively extract one or two files if you need them. Yours might be different, but I always prefer to have a full manufacturer's version of the operating system. Then again, think positively: you may not need it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif Some final advice, to paraphrase This Old House -- Read Twice, Install Once. Good Luck and Enjoy!
