I have a favorite site that i post on quite a bit. In the last couple of days, the site has dwindled to only a few posters. Seems that most of the regulars cannot acess the site. Some can, some cannot. If I replace the url with the ip address i can acess but cannot post.
I'm wondering if any of you have heard of similiar problems and maybe solutions from other sites you may visit.
I'm here for advice because I know some of the best hang here. Any input would be very much appreciated. The site is a sports site with a Final 4 team playing today and the regular posters are spread out in cyberspace looking for a place to land http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sounds like a DNS resolution problem; if you can access the actual ip NO# -but not the domain name, that usually points to the DNS server being down.
There's not much you can do on your end except open your Hosts file and add in the ip/domain name of the site. This will give you a straight forward connection since you'll be assigning a specific Domain name to an ip for your system to find on the network. Downside to this is if they fix their DNS server, you'll be unable to get on it until you remove the listing and go back to DHCP.
You'll have to do this in a DOS session , you'll need to open the hosts.sam file in edit.com, add the ip & domain name you wish, then save as hosts with no file name extension.
Here's a brief explanantion of the hosts file and how this works;your hosts file (http://www.brother.com/european/networking/chapter18/chapter18_tcpip-hosts-file.html).

Umm, there is still a DOS emulation in NT ( 2000/xp are updated version's of NT ) you'll open a DOS window by going to run, then type " cmd "-this will start a DOS session.
