cd drive door not opening

Our c.d. drive door has stopped opening. Is it dirty. Should i take the cover off and check it????

If it does not open either with the button on the drive or with the Windows command, then the drawer mechanism is probably knackered.
If you're attempting to retrieve a CD inside the drive, then you may be able to open the drawer by inserting a paper clip into the small hole on the front of the drawer.
