I just purchased a PC Chips M807 mobo w/KT 133A chipset to build my first machine, I will be using an AMD thunderbird processor (1 gig or better). Is this a good board or should I trash it ? I'll be using it for gaming (nascar 4).BTW it has a 4x agp slot.

pc chips doesn't make a motherboard with the KT133/A CHIPSET. However sold you that board is lying. You probably bought your motherboard from some loser company like fastmodems.com which alwasy lie about product specs.

OK, so how do I determine who made this thing ?

PC Chips buys motherboards from other companies and puts stickers with their name on them. It's not always easy to find out who actually makes them, but you can go to my site posted below, check the first link, Trish's Escape from Hardware Hell, then the Motherboard/BIOS section and look for a link called "PC Chips Lottery". That's about the best place I know of to start.

If you are going to spend the $200+ to buy a TBird 1 gig + chip.....GO WITH A REPUTABLE MOTHERBOARD...... Abit, Asus and Epox make very good motherboards with good chipsets in them.

Also check the AMD site, they have a compatible hardware list you can use to make sure your motherboard and power supply are "AMD friendly".

My limited experience with the PC Chips (Amptron in my case) has not been pleasant of course the package I bought was totally integrated and limiting so maybe I can't say they are horrible mobo makers...Although, when I mention it in forums I hear snickering in the background. That is why I did some research and bought an ASUS A7V133 when I decided to build my own.
Here is the link to the FCC ID site if you find the FCC ID number on your board http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/
