I managed to boot an image of XP pro from my IDE HDD on my new SATA II HDD using BootIt NG's direct boot.

OK, here is the weird thing. When I boot from the SATA drive all the partitions on the IDE drive automatically become hidden. After I used a partition manager to unhide and mount the partitions they were fine, but upon reboot they all became hidden again. I don't have any partitions marked as hidden in BootIt NG either manually or from within the boot menu.

Now I am not really worried about this as I am happy with XP on the IDE drive. Booting from SATA didn't provide any noticeable performance increase and I have already moved certain things that can benefit from SATA onto the SATA drive like game images and installs.

But I would like to know for future reference why this is happening and how to fix it if possible.

Previously just for fun I did do a proper fresh install on the SATA drive using a floppy with the RAID drivers and this did not happen. I'm guessing not doing this and using an image of the install on the IDE drive is the reason behind this problem.

Anyone know why this in happening?
