dvd player and dvd burner help

Hi again
I bought a dvd burner and put it in my pc I had a dvd plyer in there already.
Now what it is saying is that neather one has a dvd decoder to play the movies what do i need to do to have them play a movie and burn movies ??

I'm having the same problem as you guys,dvd says need decoder. I went to MS downloads,but cant find the decoder for my OS---windows 2000 service pk 4. They have it for 2000 xp pro. Little help please. :p
