I've got an N440BX server board, and was wondering if anyone knows what the fastest processors it will support are. Intel says it will only support up to a 500 I believe, but they aren't always 100% correct. I was hoping for maybe 700 or 800 Mhz. Any input is appriciated.

Disarray do you know the aa or pba number.

The AA or PBA number can be found on a small sticker located next to the N440BX server board's ISA slot.

Once you have this number post back with the info. You might have to upgrade your BIO's to go to processor greater than 500. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

The AA number is 694708-221. Upgrading the BIOS would be no problem if it meant a faster processor, thanks for the help.

It will support pentium 3 processors. So if you can set the clock, core voltage and multiplier settings for a pentium 700 or 800 you can upgrade. . I'm not sure that you can still find a Slot 1 Pentium 3 in 700 or 800 MHZ you may need to do some looking for it. Maybe a FCPPGA Converter would be an option.

If you go with the processor greater than 500 check the following before purchasing.

1. Can you set the FSB on your MOBO to 133 MHZ

2. If you cannot set MOBO to 133FSB make sure you do not purchase a processor with the FSB of 133 IE Pentium 3 800mhz 133FSb.
The 800 comes in 100 FSB as well. Not sure about the 700.

3. If you can you will need to purchase new RAM PC 133.

More information is available on your motherboard at www.intel.com (http://www.intel.com)
Just do a search with the n440bx and it will pull up all the info on your motherboard. More than you want to know. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hope this helps you out.
