When I play an mp3 in Windows Media Player, it searches online at microsoft to pull up the Album Art picture. Does this increase the file size of the? If so, by how much approximately?

I'm wondering because I notice that the picture can then be displayed in other various programs, and even if they only increase it by a small amount, I have a lot of mp3s, so the additions can add up. I know that I can shut off this option in WMP, but just wondering how large the increase is, if there is. Thanks!

Well I never really worried about it, but I checked on the actual files and they seemed to range in size from 2-15KB. Not an amount that I would really worry about myself, but as you said it can be disabled if you want to save that space.

it is stored as a hidden file in the mp3's directory. If you select "view all files" you should be able to see them.

Strange. I have enabled "Show hidden files and folders" in the Folder Options, but I do not see the file you are talking about.

try "show protected operating systems", not show hidden files and folders. sorry if i was unclear. that will reveal some *.ini files. I'm pretty sure that will get you on the right track... i'm citing this from memory though.
