Hi,
I have a MK77-m8Xn motherboard with a 2.4 G Athlon chip. It used to beep on POST. I installed a DVD burner, and now there's no beep. Everything works fine, and it looks like it's doing the same initialzation, but the beep is gone. I check my case speaker connection and RAM to make sure nothing was bumped. There are no problems at all, except for that missing beep.
Can you help? I may need those beeps one day!

Does the POST behave any differently? Have you gone into the BIOS to make sure the new drive is recognized? It could be something as simple as going into the BIOS and choosing "Save & Exit", or the mobo battery needs to be replaced, or whatever. Sounds like a simple problem, but I agree that a missing beep is most disconcerting!

Try booting with no RAM modules inserted. That should definitely generate beeps - so if there are none when you do this I would next try a new case speaker that is known to work.
