Where can I find a good, stable barebones system? I looked at PC Power and Cooling's Pentium 3 base systems but they seem to bee a bit expensive. Any suggestions??

One just like the PC Power base system below.

Btw, is this base system actually worth it??

no it isnt....and they rarely are

its not as bad as some I have seen...but... it only has ata66, and dosent come with a cpu. And the P3 is expensive, still.

You should always, I repeat always buy individual pieces....it may take a little more effort and you may have to order from 3 places to get all the things you want. But you get all the things you want....

you always sacrifice something with a package deal....

Try CSO (http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com) or
Pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com). You'll usualy find the best prices at one of these sites.

Make sure you check the system specs, and try not to get onboard or integrated anything...The only onboard components you want are floppy and hard drive controllers, USB support, and of course keyboard and mouse.

For video, sound, modem and NIC add-on cards are always best.

In addition to www.pricewatch.com, (http://www.pricewatch.com,) check out www.pricecombat.com. (http://www.pricecombat.com.)
Another interesting site to complement the previous two is www.resellerratings.com. (http://www.resellerratings.com.)

Thanks!

With that Tyan motherboard, it should not have costed that much.

One more thing though. I already know that their power supplies are among the best, but are their midtower cases good?
