I formatted and reinstalled Windows on my desktop today. I can no longer connect to the Internet. I have a connection running through a router, which my laptop accesses wirelessly. I have run the network wizard on the desktop, typed in the correct workgroup name, but i cannot connect to the Internet. I tried to "Add a New Connection" but the Shared Connection did not show up. What do I need to do to get Internet Access?

Is your firewall blocking access ?

no sir, i turned off windows firewall and avg.
Did you install the drivers for the network card?
If you go to a command prompt and type ipconfig, what do you get?

when i run ipconfig, i get nothing. the command prompt just says ipconfig with no information at all. the drivers sound like it may be the problem.
Yes, it sounds like you either didn't install the drivers or the NIC isn't being recognized by Windows at all.
I would check in Device Manager yo see if any devices show up with a yellow exclamation mark. I would bet your NIC Will be there with one. Then just install the drivers from the CD, or find them on the web, and you should be good.
