View Full Version : help! computer shuts down then restarts

I am new to this forum and if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. My problem is that when I shut down the computer by following the steps of going to start then click on shut down computer and then it shows either standby, restart or shut down computer, I then click on shut down computer but it restarts on its own after about 30 seconds or so. But if I shut it down using the power button in front of the cpu it does not start up by itself. Any help would be great.

I removed the check in the box to automatically restart the computer but I am still having the same problem.

the power button in front of the cpuAre you referring to the rocker switch on the Power Supply Unit (PSU)? If you are using the rocker switch on the PSU, that is the same as cutting the power off to a light switch...

Did this problem start recently? Are you using Windows XP?
