From my searchs up to 3.2 GHz Prescott.

Keep in mind it might not be able to handle a Prescott P4 out of the box. It may require a BIOS update, which means you need a CPU that it does support out of the box in order to perform the BIOS update.

It says it only supports the 800/533FSB. So I don't see how it can fully utilize an Extreme edition CPU.

There were a few P4 EE's that used the 800 FSB. Check our website.

Without spending extra cash on a new P4 that is going to be outdated soon, you could try overclocking your current one to get some extra speed instead. Of course, this voids your warranty but if you are thinking of getting a new CPU anyway, there isn't much harm in giving it a go. You need to make sure you have the correct equipment for it though. I've made do over the last few months by overclocking my 3ghz P4 to 3.2ghz (it can go up to 3.4 but I don't want to push my RAM any further), since come June I'm getting a new one anyway. Just an idea. But the 3.2Ghz P4 Prescott is the fastest as hockey man said.

Woah, I just noticed something. The link you gave is for the ECS 661FX-M7, but your mobo has to be the 661FX-M (http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?DetailID=392&MenuID=22&LanID=9). The difference is that the M uses Socket 478, and the M7 uses LGA 775. If you have a P4 2.26 right now, there's no way you have the M7 - LGA 775 doesn't go down to such a low speed. Here is the list of supported CPU's for the 661FX-M:

Celeron 1.7GHz to 2.7GHz (128K, 400 FSB, mPGA 478)
Celeron D 325 to 345, 2.53GHz to 3.06GHz (256K, 533 FSB, mPGA 478)
Pentium 4 Northwood A 1.6GHz to 2.6GHz (512K, 400 FSB, mPGA 478)
Pentium 4 Northwood B 2.26GHz to 2.8GHz (512K, 533 FSB, mPGA 478)
Pentium 4 Northwood B 2.26GHz to 3.06GHz (512K, 533 FSB, mPGA 478)
Pentium 4 Northwood C 2.4GHz to 3.4GHz (512K, 800 FSB, mPGA 478)
Pentium 4 Prescott 2.4GHz to 3.4GHz (1M, 800 FSB, mPGA 478)
Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.2GHz to 3.4GHz (2M, 800 FSB, mPGA 478)

Your best bet for a relatively cheap CPU upgrade would be a Socket 478 P4 Prescott in the 3GHz neighborhood. Even cheaper would be a higher speed Celeron D, which would give you more performance overall vs your current P4 2.26 (but it's only a Celeron so that's a tough choice).
