I have seen the bench marks [so far as to date] for the Conroe vs AMD>
Conroe performance chart Usiing ATI graphics runs approx 30% better in gaming than AMD {so far and subject too change within the next 6 month's}
My question and interest is for the SLI technology if one were to purchase the nVidia dual GPU cards - the SLI technology would run smoother using AMD even though the Conroe core has out perform AMD, it seems that AMD performs better with dual vid than intel??

At this point it is hard to be definitive. That is why I recommend builders with high budgets who want Intel wait. The tests that are out used Crossfire. So, I don't know how SLI plays in the situation.

Getting SLI support to the next Intel platform is likely to be a painful experience for Intel and NVidia (they don't like eachother) but inevitable. NVidia can't miss out on Conroe considering it will be taking back the gaming crown because that would leave ATI wide open for a Crossfire/Conroe monopoly. Crossfire is becoming more and more like an actual technology that you can buy :p and it doesn't absolutely need an ATI chipset to work (just support in any other chipset). SLI does need its own chipset to work, however, so there's no way NVidia can skip this generation of Intel.

NVidia on top right now in terms of raw performance in most games, and most definitely in terms of cost/performance, and SLI continues to improve in general. But the ATI's next revision of the R580 could very easily change that. And that change could come as early as the release of Conroe.

The two main battles of idealogies show no signs of ending...
