Over the past few weeks (If I remember correctly it seems to have started when MS released the first security patch for MedPlayer) I cannot get a VID CD to play correctly on my computer.

Scenario:
Capture 5 minute (for testing) video from TV with no dropped frames or errors. G-Spot shows AVI file to be in good order and that compatable codecs installed.

Using Pinnacle Studio (Ver 8.27) to render video and make disk. Have tried with Nero as well but same result)

When played back on computer the video is pixilated (See attached screen shot of pixilation). I have tried 4 different players with same result And numerous attempts with different caputed vid's. Also closed down everything in the background whilst rendering.

When VCD is played on my DVD player (attached to TV) it plays just fine.
When caputered AVI file is played on computer it plays just fine (just the AVI file no rendering or writing to disk.
When I drill down onto finished CD and play the finished Mpeg file it plays just fine.

When the same captured AVI file is used to make both S-VCD and DVD they pay just fine.

I haven't been able to come up with anything. Nothing concrete, anyway. I don't know, maybe there's a problem with VCD's on your system in general. Do you have the latest graphics drivers?

Yes. To see if this was the cause I updated the drivers about 10 days ago. I have also uninstalled nearly all codecs so that I was left with only the basic program(s) installed codecs. Nothing new installed that could cause this.

It only pixilates when I allow the CD to AUOT-RUN on the computer. The actual (rendered from captured AVI) MPG video file on the disk plays without problems if I drill down to it and selct play. But S-vcd and dvd of same caputured video auto-runs OK.

Aha, I smell a clue. :)
